I recently got a set of these. Facets and function! They remind me of oversized D&D dice.
They are so awesome. "...inspired from icosahedron." by TaiDesign. Porcelain. $32. Available here.

I am a big fan of Thomas Wold, and he recently sent me an email letting me know about his latest show called "Come Together." If you're in the SF area, definitely go check it out at the Curiosity Shoppe. Recently, Thomas created this AMAZING computer station in the lobby of the I-must-see-why-didn't-anyone-tell-me-about-this-sooner!?- Good Hotel.
I love the detail of the old school turntable mounted inside the cabinet. So inspired. He also did fun "Piecemeal" coffee table, which was featured in Readymade Magazine.

Happy New Year! How has your 2009 been treatin' ya so far? Well, having kept up this blog now for over 2 years, it's fun to see where I was at in January last year. Did you keep up any resolutions you had made? For me, 2008 was supposed to be about "upgrading". Here's a list of the things I had set out to do, and the results:
I went to Target yesterday and spotted this display being put up (sorry for the blurriness! I snapped it mid walking) Looks like Target's latest collaboration is with Umbra. A new "Umbra Loft" collection is in stores now. I didn't have a chance to really investigate and it looks like they were still putting in pieces. You can check out some of the items here. I'm going to be stopping by another Target later today so I'll see if that one has a more complete offering. So far, I'm digging the "Sonata Salad Bowl with Servers"-
love how the servers fit on the side the asymmetrical shape, and also this "nest salad bowl with Servers"- also liking the napkin holder
, these candle holders, these quirky vases, and also the concept of this photo tray-
it's a little cartoon-y but it could be a fun accent piece in the right setting. I'm strangely envisioning a modern take on an Alice in Wonderland/Mad tea party theme... anyways- Oh- and this Piatto platter is kind of fun too- Is this collection up at your Target? Did anything catch your eye?
I've seen the Daily Aesthetics range by Seletti before, but now they've come with a Platinum glaze which makes them look like metal! Spotted in the Jan 09 Elle Decoration, I'm not sure where you can get them domestically, but you can get the white porcelain versions here-
It's a cold and rainy day here in So Cal today. It's also just a few days before the holidays. I think this cover image from the Jan/Feb 09 issue of Inside Out, sums up my mood today- simple, a little grey, a little weathered, but with an anticipation of fun things to come... It's the last weekend before Christmas. I haven't had a chance to do ANY shopping. I'm in trouble. How are all you guys? All done? In the same boat as me? Somewhere in between? Oy. Gameplan needed. now. (image via)
